Whist making these drawings i documented it with a succession of photographs to show the development of the drawing. after i made them into a stop motion.
So i have be doing a lot of drawing so here is a catch up.... this work 'drawing a line 100 times' was inspired my Tom Marrioni's work 'flying with friends' i drew a line shoulder height 100 time documenting the process of the action.
So i havn't blogged in ages heres what ive been up to, myself and another third year Kjersti Crossley spent a week working in the project space at uni, resulting in a breakfast club called draw it again. For this i made some drawings and a short film.
Day 1
Day 2
Day 3 Day 4Day 5instilation view Arm Span Drawing (Film Still)
Over Christmas i made a holder to attatch to the studio wall for a roll of Fabriarno, here are a few images or some arm spans with the paper being continually pulled out.
For the past few months i have been helping organize and exhibiting in an outdoor exhibition at my university. The project was centered around human interaction with the landscape and consideration of the environment.
For this work using earth, soil and mud collected from the site were my work would be sited i make a 'wax crayon' and from this a drawing was made.
My practice is centered equally around drawing and painting, in particular the process of making the work, however, my current practice concentrates on drawing. I am interested in the actual physical act and action of mark making which demands direct body action. My drawings are the products of these actions of my body in extension documenting the physical movements of my body and my body's dimensions.
Working on large scale paper with graphite I draw and record my body's physical actions through natural, energetic gestures that are repetitive and may become quite automated. These gestural actions requiring complete concentration and also generate sounds and therefore have developed into performance. Each drawing "catches" a moment in time and is different from any other being influenced by the preparations, materials used and the state of mind at the moment of creation like that of Asian art and Zen Drawing.
